We are honored to help directly reach out to the people in West Michigan!
Our Chapter donates thousands of dollars annually to give the disabled and our wounded veterans the chance to hunt & fish.

THANK YOU'S! |
We are proud to show this humanitarian effort (deer hunt)
that our chapter provided (August 25-28) for a youth that has been battling cancer.
The episode was shown on Michigan Out of Doors TV a short time ago. Enjoy!
In August 2016, the Michigan Chapter of SCI returned to 2 Hats Ranch. We sponsored Purple Heart recipient and veteran Charlie Caswell.
In August 2015, the Michigan Chapter of SCI sponsored a trophy whitetail hunt at 2 Hats Ranch in Baldwin for Russell Nehmer, a veteran who was wounded while serving our country in the Middle East.
Our Chapter’s Humanitarian Chair, Denny Sprick, had the privilege of accompanying Russ on a hunt. They were joined by 7 other Purple Heart veterans - some younger, some older but all true patriots! Russell, who inspired everyone there, had a successful hunt.
We thank you, our Chapter members and the Bettis family at 2 Hats Ranch, for making this hunt possible!

The Humanitarian Committee has always done an outstanding job of Our efforts have been so well received by our membership that donations Charter fishing trips have allowed us to introduce many challenged youth to the out doors who would never have had the opportunity otherwise. For many, if not most, the large salmon or lake trout they catch may not only be the biggest fish they ever caught but also the biggest they may ever catch. These fishing trips have become a favorite topic of host Jimmy Gretzinger for his Michigan Out of Doors television program. We have fifteen trips scheduled for 2019 |

Vern,
I just wanted to say thank you very much for allowing Alex and I to experience the time of our life! Growing up hunting and fishing and having a profession where I work around the sport daily it has been difficult for me to watch other dads partake in the outdoors knowing my sons probably couldn’t do it because of their disability. Well thanks to you, Doug and the Bettis family I have experienced by far the greatest moment a dad could ask for. Spending those days at the lodge and in the field with my son is beyond priceless. The fact that he was treated like any other normal kid was incredible. We ate some of the deer Sunday night when we returned home and Alex made sure the whole family knew it was from his deer. Thank you again for the great memories you have provided us. I also want to thank you for the book you gave me. It is great to read the wonderful experiences you have enjoyed over the years. If there is ever anything I can do for you please don’t hesitate to ask. Take care.
Mike
